About Reiki

Daisa Morgan, Reiki Master / Teacher

The Lakeside Reiki Centre“Rei” is the Japanese word for ‘healing’ to make ‘whole’. “Ki” means ‘life force’ so the word Reiki is the integration of the two words meaning “making whole through natural life force energy”. Reiki connects you to Universal energy so that you can help to balance mind, body spirit when you feel the need.

The word Reiki is also associated with a particular method of healing founded by Dr. Mikao Usui, in Japan at the end of the last century.

What people say about Reiki

Reiki has not been scientifically studied in the same way as other treatments, so there is only a little published evidence of its benefits. However, people who have experienced Reiki often report its positive effects. According to their anecdotes, Reiki may help to treat the symptoms of stress, arthritis, back pain, anxiety, depression, tension, asthma, M.E. sinusitis, migraine, and is a good tonic if you are well.

Reiki does not replace any or all advice given by a Medical Practitioner and the public must take complete responsibility for their use of it.

How is Reiki Given?

The Reiki practitioner gently places their hands in a sequence of positions either directly on or slightly away from the recipient's body; this will usually take between sixty - ninety minutes. During the treatment the recipient may feel very drowsy, experience warmth, tingling, and may fall asleep.

Reiki reinforces a person's ability to take responsibility for their own life, and helps to reconnect you to your true purpose in life, giving an opportunity to make changes in attitudes and lifestyle, and if you decide to become a Reiki practitioner there are three major levels to consider:

Reiki I

This first level can truly be the greatest gift that you can give yourself. It forms the foundation for building self-confidence, self-awareness, self-healing, and accepting personal responsibility. Hand positions for self-healing are given, and also hand positions for offering Reiki to another person. Reiki is passed through an attunement process, and at this first level four attunements in total are received over a two-day period. A certificate is awarded on completion.

Reiki II: This is where & how the Original Reikibear™ can be used as a surrogate

Reiki II is advancement for people who have worked with Reiki I for a time and feel drawn to work at a deeper level. Sacred symbols are revealed and their meaning and purpose are given. Participants are taught how to integrate ‘distant healing’ — a very effective method for situations where the person receiving the Reiki cannot be present. This level also carries two attunements over the two-day course, and again a certificate is given after certain requirements are fulfilled.

Positive intention is always paramount – using the Original Reikibear™ during distant healing will work with intention, but having a Reiki II initiation will enable efficient use of the Original Reikibear™ in conjunction with the distant healing symbols.

Reiki Master/Teacher

Having worked through Reiki I and Reiki II, and taken an advanced Reiki training, some people may be guided or drawn to want to teach Reiki to others. This can be a very moving and highly humbling experience. How Reiki is perceived and taught by each Reiki Master is their own unique interpretation, however the fundamental hand positions, and story will not vary significantly.
